Biography

Born in Cairo in 1943, lightweight boxer Hassan Nour-el-Din Aman competed for both Egypt and Chad at the Olympics. In 1965 Aman won gold in the -75 kg class at the All-Africa Games in Brazzaville. He continued to have good results, including winning gold at the 1968 African Boxing Championships in Lusaka, earning himself a place on the Egyptian Olympic team. At the Mexico City Games he received a bye in the first round before losing to Jürgen Schlegel (GDR). Four years later Aman returned to the Olympics, this time representing Chad at the München Games. Here he lost in his opening bout to the eventual gold medallist Mate Parlov (YUG) after the referee stopped the contest.
