Biography

Mohamed Aberhoune was a center-back on the Moroccan football team at the 2012 London Olympics. He competed domestically for Moghreb Tétouan from 2010-17, helping them win the Botola Pro 1 League in 2012 and 2014, and playing with them at the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup. In June 2017 Aberhoune joined Moreirense in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. He was with them for two years before moving to Çaykur Rizespor in Turkey in January 2019.

Aberhoune earned seven international caps for Morocco, but also played for the Moroccan U20 and U23 teams. In February 2020 he became ill and was diagnosed with stomach cancer. He succumbed to the disease in December 2020 at age 31.
