Biography

Elemér Barcza began his sports career as a swimmer at MÚE and then BEAC in 1927. In 1928 he joined the Army. In 1931-32, he graduated from the Equestrian Teacher Training and Driving School. He competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in show jumping, but his horse balked three times at obstacles, and he was disqualified. In addition to his military service, he was committed to equestrian sports and participated in the preparation of equestrian teams for the 1940 Olympics.

Barcza fell into American captivity at the end of World War II. After a few months he was released but decided not to return to Hungary. He worked as a photojournalist in Paris, focusing on horse racing. In 1948, he emigrated to Argentina, where he trained horses for show jumping, selling his horses to South American countries such as Chile, Bolivia and, of course, Argentina. This business was very successful, but he later gave up his business and moved to Buenos Aires, where he became a riding teacher.
