Biography

Glauco Servadei was a road cyclist who competed in the road race at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Nicknamed Parulè, he was a leading figure in cycling in the Forlì region. He won over 60 races as a student and amateur cyclist, competing with VS Reno and AS Remo.

Servadei competed at the 1933 Tour of Hungary in the Azzurro kit, winning two stages. He won the Italian Cup in 1935 with his AS Roma team. In 1936, prior to the Olympics, he was second at the Italian road championship, and sixth at the World Championships.

Disappointed by his Olympic experience, Servadei turned professional, racing through 1949. His pro palmarès included six stage wins at the Giro d’Italia, two at the Tour de France, winning the 1943 Grand Prix di Roma and the 1942 Bernocchi Cup, and the 1943 Milano Province time trials, alongside Fiorenzo Magni. His other podium finishes were 10 second places in Giro stages, second in the 1938 Tour stage from Nantes-Royan, runner-up at the 1937 and 1943 Giro di Tuscana, and in 1943 he was second at the Italian Championships and Milano-Sanremo. As a professional he competed with the teams Gloria, Ganna from the post-war period until 1949, and finally with Bianchi alongside Fausto Coppi. In memory of his career, the velodrome of his hometown Forlì is named in Servadei’s honor.
