Biography

German tennis player Barbara Rittner was eliminated in the third round of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics by Arantxa Sánchez Vicario. In 1992, Rittner was on the German Federation Cup winning team, and in 1993 achieved her highest world ranking position (#24). In 1992 and 2002, she won her only Grand Prix tournaments.

After her active career Rittner, became a regular tennis commentator on Eurosport, where she had her own segment before matches called “First Serve Rittner”. Also, she was captain of the German Federation Cup team from 2005-17 and was chief national coach of the German Tennis Federation from 2009.
