Biography

Weightlifter Aliaksei Mzhachyk competed in the super-heavyweight class where he won multiple medals at the Belarusian championships. At the start of his career Mzhachyk won silver at the European Junior Championships (2012) and at the World Junior Weightlifting Championships (2015). The following year he competed at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics where he finished 12th. He continued to compete in international competitions, finishing 8th at the European Championships (2017) and 14th at the World Championships (2018). Tragically Mzhachyk was only 25-years-old when he was killed in a car crash in Germany in August 2021.
