Biography

Leigh Barczewski was a track sprinter who placed fourth at the 1973 World Junior Championships in the match sprint. He was also fourth at the US Championships in 1974 but improved in 1976 to win the US Olympic Trials and compete in Montréal. He settled in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, where he worked in various roles at the Trexlertown Velodrome, becoming technical director of the track after he retired from competition in 1980. His son Ben Barczewski won a silver medal in the sprint event at the 2007 Pan American Games.
