Biography

Red Berti raced in the 1920s and 1930s. He was considered among the favorites to make the 1928 Olympic team but rode poorly at the Western Trials. At the 1932 Olympic Trials he won the 1,000 metre sprint and was second in the 1,000 metre unpaced event, in addition to winning the 4,000 metre pursuit with the team that went to the Olympics. Berti never won a US National title and his career ended two years after the 1932 Olympics when he was struck by a car, fracturing his skull.
