Swiss cyclist Albert Blattmann enjoyed success during the 1920s, becoming a three-time national champion. Blattmann won his first titles in 1924 with victory at the national cyclo-cross championships and the Swiss amateur road race. Later that same year he just missed out on a medal at the Paris Olympics, finishing fifth in the individual road race and fourth in the combined team event. The following year he came third at the Swiss national championships and ninth in the amateur race at the World Championships.
In 1926 Blattmann had turned professional, winning both the Tour du Nord-Ouest and the Zürich Championship that same year. He was consistent at the national road race championships, finishing second in 1926 and 1927, before becoming the Swiss champion in 1928. He continued to race into the early part of the 1930s, including finishing 11th in the road race at the 1931 World Championships.
