Biography

In the late 1950s and early 1960s Joseph Geurts won several amateur cycling races in Brabant and Limburg, including winning the individual road race at the 1960 Belgian championships. This earned Geurts a place on the Olympic team for the Roma Games but he did not finish in the individual road race. One year later he finished second in the road race at the Belgian championships before turning professional. Now riding for German teams, Geurts then had a few more victories in both Belgium and Germany before retiring in the mid-1960s.
