Biography

Jerzy Głowacki was a track cyclist who just missed a medal at the 1972 München Olympics when the Polish pursuit team finished fourth. Głowacki was Polish champion in the individual pursuit in 1971, in the team pursuit in 1971 and 1975, and in the tandem in 1971 and 1976, alongside his brother Tadeusz. He had eight other podium finishes at the Polish Championships. He competed at the 1970 and 1971 World Championships.

Głowacki represented Kalisz Sports Club Włókniarz and then, after two years of military service, he was with Orle Łódź. He later moved to the United States where he became an entrepreneur and owned two companies, HomeArt Construction and Polmex Manufacturing. Although he continued to ride bikes, in the USA his passion became motorcycles and he often made long journeys alone on his motorcycle.
