Jan Henriksen began his cycling career with victory in the team time trial at the 1969 Norwegian championships. Three years later he competed in the road race at the München Olympics, but did not finish the course. He only rode for a couple more years, including riding in the Milk Race in England in both 1973 and 1974, before retiring.
