Biography

Daniel Huwyler won the 1981 Swiss Junior Road Champion, his only major title prior to riding for Switzerland at the 1984 Olympics. After the Olympics, he had a short career in the amateur peleton, winning the Tour du Lac Léman in 1988, Porrentry-Zürich in 1989, and the Grand Prix de Genève in 1990. He also had three podium finishes in 1986 – second at the Grand Prix de Winterthur and the Tour de Lac Majeur/Grand Prix Knorr, and third at the Grand Prix de Lugano. In 1990, he would also finish second at the Grand Prix de Lugano, but ended his competitive career after that year. He later began a career working with disabled people and assisting them in getting into sports.
