Biography

Cyclist Karl Köther, whose father Karl Köther was a bronze medalist in 1928 at the Amsterdam Olympic in the tandem event, finished fourth in the 1 km track time trial at the 1972 München Summer Games. He also participated in the sprint event, where he lost his eighth final repêchage against Danish cyclist Niels Fredborg. In 1971 Köther won his only West German national title, in the 1 km track time trial.
