In July 1936 Finnish cyclist Tauno Lindgren placed third in the road race at the national championships to earn himself a place on the Olympic team. A month later Lindgren competed in the road race at the Berlin Games where he finished the course, but his time was not recorded. Back home in Finland he won several local races from 1937 to 1939.
