Biography

Throughout the 1920s and 1930s Norwegian cyclist Ragnvald Martinsen was the best time trial rider in the country. In 1926 Martinsen finished third in the individual time trial event at the national championships before winning his first title two years later. He retained his title in 1929 and then won six consecutive Norwegian titles in the even from 1931 to 1936. His consistent performances also won him six King’s Cups during his career. In 1928 Martinsen was selected to compete in the individual road race at the Amsterdam Olympics but he did not finish the course.
