Biography

Rory O’Reilly was a track sprinter who won the gold medal at the 1983 Pan American Games in the kilometre. He also won the kilo at the 7-Eleven/Bicycling Magazine Grand Prix in 1983. At the US Nationals, in the kilometre, he was sixth in 1981, second in 1982, and fourth in 1983. He was eighth in the kilometre at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. O’Reilly worked as a typewriter salesman until he became a professional cyclist with the 7-Eleven team.
