Biography

Tetsuo Osawa was a Japanese cyclist who was active during the 1950s and 1960s. In the early 1950s Osawa was an up-and-coming talent, performing well at inter-high school athletic meets and the National Sports Festival. His performances earned him a place at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, where he competed in the road race and finished 12th in the 1,000 metres time trial on the track. Two years later he had the best result of his career when he won gold in the 1,000 metres time trial at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo. Osawa returned to the Olympics for the 1960 Games in Roma, riding in both the 1,000 metres time trial and the 4,000 metres team pursuit on the track.
