In the first half of 1948 Dutch cyclist Piet Peters finished second on the fourth stage of the Tour of Luxembourg. A few months later Peters competed in the road race at the London Olympics but did not finish the course. He continued to compete as an amateur cyclist for a couple more years, finishing second overall at the 1951 edition of the Benelux Tour.
