Biography

In his youth Muhammad Sanusi worked as a newspaper delivery boy, using his bike to cycle around the city of Medan. From this early start Sanusi became one of the leading cyclists from Indonesia, winning races not only at home but all over the world, including Morocco, Japan, Greece, Pakistan, and Malaysia. Ahead of the 1960 Roma Olympics he won races in the Netherlands before competing at the Games. Sanusi then competed in both the individual road race and the 100 kilometres team time trial in Roma. Alongside his cycling career he continued to deliver newspapers for 30 years.
