Biography

West German cyclist Werner Stauff finished 41st in the individual road at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Two years later he won the national road race title. In 1981 and 1985, he also won national team time trial titles. Stauff had his only year as a professional cyclist, with Team Stuttgart in 1989.

Stauff married the 1978 world road race champion Beate Habetz, and their son Andreas became a well-known cyclist. Werner Stauff later became sports director and coach with Pro-Team Telekom.
