Arnaldo Mesa was gold medalist at the 1991 and 1995 Pan American Games as a bantamweight boxer, in addition to his silver medal at the 1996 Olympics. He won three bronze medals at the World Championships, as a bantamweight in 1986 and a featherweight in 1989 and 1991. Mesa was a four-time Cuban champion and won five international titles.
