Biography

Leif Olsson was a Swedish television presenter, radio host, and sports journalist who was best known for hosting the TV show Bingolotto for a decade. Olsson began his career as a referee for the sport of handball, officiating in matches at the Olympics in München and Montréal. After the Olympics he became the host of the radio programme Radio Ringlinjen, hosting the show from 1978 until 1991. In the late 1980s Olsson came up with an idea for a lottery-based television game show, which he pitched to the broadcaster TV4. Bingolotto was a huge hit in Sweden, becoming one of the most watched shows of the 1990s. The ratings for the show declined after Olsson left in 1999, but he made a return as a guest host in 2004 and 2011.
