Biography

Bob Vehe was a track sprinter who competed in the kilometre time trial at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. He had been second in the kilo at the 1975 US Track Championships. Vehe competed for the Lakeshore Schwinn Club in Chicago. In 2014 Vehe was working as a satellite installer, when he parked his van in front of a client’s house and felt something pop in his chest. He had just ruptured his aorta and, miraculously, survived the trauma, despite having multiple surgeries and taking over a year to recover.
