Kathleen Partridge

Kathleen Partridge was a hockey goalkeeper who played at the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games, winning gold with Australia in 1988. She also helped Australia win the 1991 Champions Trophy. During her career she earned 312 caps.

Retiring after the Barcelona Olympics, Partridge became goalkeeper coach for the Australian men’s national team, helping them to success at 1996 in Atlanta, the 1998 World Cup, and the Sydney 2000 Olympics, and is arguably considered Australia’s best goalkeeping coach. She wrote two books on the technical aspects of goalkeeping, while studying and earning a Ph.D. at the University of Western Australia. During that time, she also served as principal of Sevenoaks Senior College.

Partridge was inducted into the Hockey Australia Hall of Fame in 2018. She died rather young at age 57 from cancer.
