Armand Solie began his field hockey career with Gantoise in Ghent, where he became a three-time indoor champion and a runner-up in the Belgian Cup. Solie then joined Royal Léopold Club in Bruxelles, winning the national championship with the club. From 1965 to 1978 he played in 120 matches for the Belgian national team, including competing at three Olympic Games. Following his playing career Solie worked as a coach, which included a stint with the national team. He later founded the Indiana hockey club in the town of Zevergem.
