Biography

Like his father, Tivadar Dienes-Öhm was educated in military schools. In 1932-33 he graduated from the Hussar riding school in Komárom. After his education he served with the 4th Hussar Regiment in Nyíregyháza and was later posted to Budapest. From 1944 he was a cavalryman serving as a Hussar Commander with the Nyiregyhazaer “Hadik” Hussars. Dienes-Öhm fought in World War II, and died in 1944 in the battle around Kiskunfélegyháza.

Beside his military career Dienes-Öhm was a passionate polo player, playing several times with the Hungarian national team, and was a member of the Hungarian team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The team finished fourth, with Dienes-Oehm playing in all three matches.
