Biography

Hjalmar Wollgarth was a member of the Swedish tug-of-war team at the 1908 London Olympics. The team finished fourth after losing their first-round match to the British Liverpool Police team, 2 pulls to 0. All of the team members appear to have been military men as they represented military sport clubs. Wollgarth was head official for the Swedish tug-of-war team at the 1912 Olympics. He was a member of Ingengörs1 Idrottsförening, which was the sports club of the 1st Engineers regiment of the Swedish army.
