Biography

In 1980, shortly after leaving Millfield School, Stephen Batchelor made his international début fro England as a 19-year-old. He went on to play 48 times for England winning silver medals in the 1986 World cup and the 1987 European Cup. Batchelor, who played for Southgate, represented Great Britain 66 times, winning an Olympic bronze medal in 1984 and a gold medal in 1988. At the Seoul Olympics, he either started or came on as a substitute in all seven matches but despite his reputation as a striker he failed to score in the tournament.
