Biography

Harry Haslam started his representative hockey career with Worcestershire but moved south in 1905 and for many years, both before and after the war, was goalkeeper for Ilford, Essex and the East. He won the first of nine England caps in 1920 and was awarded the OBE the same year for his work with the Special Constabulary. Haslam worked for a firm of sports goods manufacturers and toured the country first-ever hockey instructional film. He held numerous posts as an administrator of the game and wrote regularly for the News Chronicle. He died on his 72nd birthday.
