Biography

Goalie Christian Schliemann was a member of the West German field hockey teams that won the silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, after losing to Great Britain 3-1 in the final. Schliemann won 112 international caps (including 34 indoor) between 1982-91. He was European Indoor Champion in 1984 and 1988, European Champion in 1987, and third at the 1986 Worlds.

Domestically, Schliemann played with RHTC Leverkusen. By profession, he became a buying agent at Bayer Leverkusen. His sons Krischan and Steffen also became field hockey players.
