Biography

Heinz Wöltje was a defender and a member of the first German team to win an Olympic hockey medal, when they beat Belgium 3-0 to win the bronze medal at Amsterdam in 1928. He won 12 international caps between 1925-29.

Wöltje was in 1949 the co-founder of the Deutscher Hockey-Bund and was its treasurer from 1949-65. He was also for a long time, president of the hockey club DHC Hannover. By profession, Wöltje became a wealthy constructor.
