Biography

Gurmit Singh played for Punjab University in Lahore from 1927 until 1932. He played his first game for Punjab in the Inter-Provincial Tournament in 1932. Between 1934-40 he was a member of the Indian Army team. When he was selected for the Olympic team, he was studying at the Agricultural College in Faisalabad (formerly Lyallpur). He played at inside right and was the only Sikh on the team in 1932, scoring eight goals in two matches. During the Indian tour which preceded and followed the Olympics, Singh scored 55 goals.
