Biography

Arsène Vigeant was known as a light and fast hand fencer, and an author of highly esteemed works on his art. These included The Library of Ancient and Modern Fencing (1882), A Fencing Master under the Restoration: Life of Jean-Louis (1883), Duels of fencing masters (1884), and L’Almanach de l’escrime (1889), among others. Vigeant was the President of the Academy of Arms of Paris.
