Biography

Tony Hall joined the Australian Army in 1949, spending the next 38 years in the forces before retiring as a colonel in 1987 and being awarded the OBE. Following his retirement Hall helped to start a field hockey club, spent more than a decade as the treasurer of a squash club, and administrated a swimming club. In 1989 he took up croquet, soon serving as the secretary and treasurer of the Canberra Croquet Club. By 1993 Hall had become the President of Croquet NSW, serving in the role until 1996, before becoming the President of the World Croquet Federation in 1999. He remained in the role until 2003 and was inducted into the federation’s Hall of Fame in 2009.
