Charles Bersin

Charles Bersin served as the fencing master at the Société d’Escrime in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland around the turn of the 20th century. A native of Magny-en-Vexin in the Val-d’Oise department, he was a baker by profession. Bersin competed in both the foil and sabre masters tournaments at the 1900 Olympics in Paris, but did not advance past the first round in either event. His son, Edouard (born 1891) was also a successful fencer in his youth and later became a teacher, residing in Mexico for a period of time.
