Biography

German fencer Wilhelm Löffler competed in the individual foil at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics and was eliminated in the quarter-finals. At Amsterdam in 1928, then aged over 40, Löffler was a member of the German foil team that was eliminated in the first round.

Domestically, Löffler won a tournament organized by TV Offenbach both with the foil and the sabre in 1913. The same year he was also the national foil championship runner-up. After World War I, he was second with the foil and third with the sabre at a München tournament. In 1926, he won the foil competition at the Deutsche Kampfspiele. He then moved to FTV 1860 Frankfurt on Main and came third in 1927, and that same year also finished third at the national foil championships.
