Biography

Lewis Maxson was one of the best known archers at the turn of the century He had been United States champion from 1889 until 1894 and again in 1898 and he also served many years as secretary of the National Archery Association. Maxson shot for the Potomac Archers, the top team in the country from 1901 until 1904. In addition to the team event at the Olympics, he also competed in both individual events – but with little success. Maxson was a patent attorney
