Biography

Due to the interruption of regular league football, Jean De Bie had his first appearance as goalkeeper for the Racing Club de Bruxelles in the First Division in 1919 at age 27. He stayed with the club even after their relegations to the Second Division in 1925 and 1930. At this time he was one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. De Bie was active in his club until 1934, having played 226 games in the First Division. Between 1920 and 1930 De Bie earned 37 caps for Belgium and competed in three consecutive Olympic Games. He was a member of the 1930 World Cup squad, but did not play.
