Farouk Al-Sayid

Egyptian footballer Farouk Al-Sayid joined Zamalek SC in 1963 with him playing for the club until 1970 when he was forced to retire from the sport due to an injury. During this time Al-Sayid was called up to the national team, including being selected to play in the football tournament at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, where he was the youngest member of the Egyptian squad. He only played in one match in Tokyo, in Egypt’s 5–1 defeat by Czechoslovakia in the group stage. Despite winning only one group match, a 10–0 thrashing of South Korea, the Egyptian team eventually finished fourth in Tokyo.

After his retirement from the game Al-Sayid became the President of the technical staff at Zamalek SC and coached the national team. With Zamalek he won the Afro-Asian Club Championship in 1997.
