Biography

José Quintanilla was a midfielder who played for El Salvador at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. Quintanilla also played for his country at the 1970 FIFA World Cup and in World Cup qualifying, and in all, he earned 22 international caps.

Quintanilla played for Alianza FC from 1965-67, winning two national titles, and also helped El Salvador win a CONCACAF Championship in 1967. He later played for Atlético Marte (1970-71) and Once Municipal (1976-77) and was back with Alianza between his terms with those two clubs. Quintanilla died in a car accident in 1977, while driving to Ahuachapán for a training session.
