Biography

French football midfielder Raymond Baratto spent most of his career playing for Stade de Reims before ending his career with a brief stint at Lille OSC. After starting his youth career with Reims Baratto made his professional début for the club in 1955 where he was part of the team that won two league titles (1958, 1960) and one French Cup (1960). Baratto played in two matches in the 1958–59 European Cup tournament where Reims finished as the runners-up to Real Madrid.

Baratto was part of the French squad that played in the football tournament at the 1960 Roma Olympics. He played in two group matches, the first a 2–1 victory against Peru, and the second being a 7–0 defeat to Hungary. France finished in second place in their group and did not advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. After the Olympics Baratto played his final season of professional football when he joined Lille in October 1961, with him retiring the following summer.
