Biography

Marcos Ondruska was a South African tennis player who played professionally from 1989 to 2005. Ondruska achieved a career-best singles ranking of #27 in the world in May 1993, and a doubles ranking of #34 in the world in August 1993. He played on South Africa’s Davis Cup team from 1993 to 2001.

Ondruska won seven singles titles and 14 doubles titles on the ATP Challenger between 1989 and 2005. On the ATP Tour he was a runner-up three times in singles finals, but did go on to win four doubles titles. His first title came at the 1996 Auckland Open when he and his partner Jack Waite were awarded a walkover against Jonas Björkman and Brett Steven.

At Grand Slams Ondruska reached the doubles semi-finals at the 1993 Australian Open and the fourth round in the singles at the 1996 Australian Open. Ondruska competed in the singles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics where he lost in the second round to Christian Ruud.
