Biography

Forward Werner Peter was on the final East German football (soccer) squad at the 1980 Moskva Olympics that won the silver medal after losing the final against Czechoslovakia 1-0. He earned nine international caps, scoring one goal and 15 more with the GDR Olympic team, scoring six goals.

Domestically, Peter played with FC Chemie Halle from 1970-84 in 277 Oberliga matches, scoring 85 goals. After German re-unification he became general manager of Halle until 1992. He then worked as a football (soccer) coach at lower league clubs.
