Biography

Defender Dieter Mietz was a member of the West German football team beaten 3-2 by East Germany in their deciding second group stage game at the 1972 München home Olympics. Mietz won 42 West German amateur caps between 1967-72, and domestically played with SG Wattenscheid 09 from 1968-71 in the Regionalliga, and then moved to Borussia Dortmund. He played 29 Bundesliga matches with Dortmund before moving to Sportfreunde Siegen, back into the Regionalliga, in 1972, before retiring two years later.
