Biography

Right and center half Camillo Ugi, son of an Italian father, started his sports career as a gymnast with Allgemeiner Turnverein Leipzig. From 1902-05 he played for Leipziger BC, then after one year absence in Brazil, in 1906 moved to VfB Leipzig, with whom he became German Champion. Ugi then joined Dresdener SC for one year, and then went to Olympique Marseille in France. After falling ill from cholera Ugi returned home, playing for FSV Frankfurt, VfB Leipzig and Sportfreunde Breslau.

During World War I Ugi did not play, but in 1917 he came back to Dresdener FV. In 1919 he came back to Leipzig, playing for Sportfreunde Leipzig and VfB Leipzig. He earned 15 international caps, scoring one goal. By profession, Ugi was a cinematography technician. In 2006, a sports park in Markkleeberg was named after him.
