Edward Dodoo-Ankrah joined the Ghanian national football team as a goalkeeper in 1957 and won the African Cup of Nations with the squad in 1963 and 1965. In-between, he took part in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, where Ghana was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Egypt after having the best record in their preliminary round group. Domestically, he played for Real Republicans F.C. of Accra and won the Ghana FA Cup from 1962 through 1964, as well as the Premier League Title in 1963. In 1960, he was named Ghana Footballer of the Year for his performance at that year’s West African Games.
