Biography

György Orth started football in the Vasas youth team, before becoming a midfielder with MTK. He made his international début on November 4, 1917, and in 10 years scored 13 goals in 32 appearances for the national team. He was a member of the national team at the 1924 Summer Olympics playing under the name of Faludy.

Between 1918 and 1925, Orth won eight League titles and was the League’s top scorer between 1920-22. He suffered a serious injury at Wien in 1925 and did not return to playing professionally again until the 1926/27 season with MTK (then Hungária FC). After ending his playing career, Orth was a coach in Italy, Germany, France, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, and Portugal. He was the Head Coach of the Chilean national football team three times between 1930-32, 1942-44 and 1948-49.
