Biography

Pierino Campelli was possibly the first modern Italian goalkeeper. He played all three matches for Italy at the Stockholm Olympics and two at the 1920 Antwerpen Games. Campelli played 11 international matches for the national team, allowing 21 goals. He played for only one team in his career, lnternazionale of Milano, where he won two league titles, in 1910 and then 10 years later, in 1920. Campelli played 179 league matches until his 1925 retirement.
