Biography

Stefano Desideri played for Serie A club Roma between 1984-91 and scored 24 goals from midfield. He also played for Internazionale and Udinese. His only domestic honours were with Roma, when they won the Italian Cup in 1986 and 1991. After he retired from playing, Desideri coached several clubs in Serie C, before taking up the manager’s job at the Indian cub Pune City, in the Indian Super League.

Desideri never played for the full Italian international team, but did play six matches for their youth teams. He was a member of the squad at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, but made just two substitute appearances. In the first, in the opening match against Guatemala, he scored roughly five minutes after coming onto the field. His other appearance was in the semi-final against the Soviet Union.
